Tilak Hospital

The hospital is tucked into the Alopi Bagh area, and if you live around here, you’ve probably walked past it a hundred times. It’s a local spot, through and through. The building itself is older, and it has that specific smell of cleaning supplies and old records that you find in places that have been around for decades. We don’t have a massive marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us, the nurses, and the doctors trying to keep up with the daily flow of patients. Most days are pretty similar. People come in, wait their turn, and talk about the weather or the local news while they’re sitting in the hall. We have a small desk near the entrance where we keep the registers. It’s not digitized in a fancy way; we still rely on a lot of paper and ink. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to switch to the generator, which makes a bit of a racket, but everyone is used to it by now. The neighborhood around Alopi Bagh has changed a lot over the years, with new shops opening up, but the hospital stays pretty much the same. We like it that way because it feels familiar to the people who live here. It’s just a practical place for people to come when they need help. There’s no pretense about it, just a lot of work to do every single day.
