Sri Bala Ji General Store

Sri Bala Ji General Store is tucked away in Katjubagh Colony, over in the Chandpur Salori area. It is a quiet neighborhood most of the time, except when the school kids are out. The shop itself is just a room filled with sacks and boxes. We don't have much space to walk around once the new stock arrives on Tuesdays. You can find us easily enough if you are walking through the colony lanes. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to keep everything from matches to large bags of flour. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the narrow road and neighbors get a bit annoyed, but they still come to us for their daily milk and bread. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the wooden counter is worn down where people rest their elbows. We don't do anything special here, just hand over items and take the money. If we don’t have something, we tell you to come back in two days. It is mostly the same faces every day, people who live right around the corner. We spend a lot of time just sitting on the stool waiting for the next person to walk in. It gets dark early in this part of Chandpur Salori, so we have a bright bulb out front. It’s just a plain, local store doing what stores do. We don't have any big plans, just staying open for the colony folks so they have a place nearby.
