You can find us at 27/17 South Malaka in Allahabad. We’ve been running Siddarth Fashions from this location for quite a bit. It’s a garment business, so our days are mostly about fabric, thread, and making sure the tailors are staying on schedule. The shop floor is usually covered in scraps of cloth, and there’s always the sound of sewing machines running in the background. South Malaka is a busy neighborhood, so we get a fair amount of foot traffic, though mostly it’s people we’ve known for years. We aren't a big factory; it’s more of a local operation where we keep a close eye on everything. I spend a lot of my time talking to vendors and trying to get better prices on rolls of cotton and silk. The weather in Allahabad can be really tough, especially the humidity, which isn't great for the fabrics or the workers. We have a small back office where we handle all the billing, but the computer is old and takes forever to start up. My daughter helps with some of the designs, but we mostly stick to what we know people like to wear. It’s not a fancy lifestyle, but it’s our livelihood.
