Shweta General Store

Shweta General Store is a small spot located in Jhunsi, Allahabad. It’s a quiet spot usually but gets busy in the evenings. We open up the shop early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. Usually, the first thing I do is sweep the front and get the milk crates inside. Allahabad can get really hot in the summer months, so the morning is the best time to get things done. We have all the basic stuff like pulses, oil, and various kinds of biscuits. People from the nearby houses in the 211019 area come by for their daily things. It is just a simple place with wooden shelves. Sometimes the stock takes time to arrive from the city, so we have to wait. We try to keep things on the shelves so nobody goes back empty-handed when they need something for dinner. My family helps out too, especially when I need to go out for errands. The street has changed over the years with more houses coming up, but we are still here. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the small items like matches and soap, but it's what we do. You see the same faces every day, which makes the work feel okay. We know most of the people around here by their names. If someone needs a specific brand of tea, they just ask.
