Rajshree Sarees

We are located at 476 Old Katra, right near Netram Crossing. If you have ever been to this part of town, you probably know the crossing because of the food smells from the sweet shops nearby. Our shop is an old one, and it shows in the wooden shelves and the way the door creaks when you open it. We sell all kinds of sarees, and we spend a lot of time unfolding them for people to see the patterns. Then we have to fold them all back up perfectly, which takes forever. We have these big white sheets spread out on the floor where people sit while they look at the fabric. It’s an old tradition and we still do it that way. The ceiling fans are very old and they move slow, but they do the job. My father started this place, and I’ve been here since I was a kid. There are stacks of boxes in the back room that go all the way to the roof. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific color if we haven't put it back in the right spot. We don't have any computers here; we still write everything down in big ledger books. It’s just easier for us that way. The neighborhood is always crowded with rickshaws and pedestrians, so it’s never really quiet. We enjoy the talk and the bustle of Old Katra. It’s just how things are at our shop.
