Pulkit General Store Alld

People around here in Preetam Nagar just call us the corner shop. Pulkit General Store Alld has been in this part of Allahabad for a good amount of time. It started out small and it stayed that way mostly. We have things like biscuits, notebooks, and all the kitchen stuff like oil and salt. Living in Allahabad, you see the city change but this street stays mostly the same. The shop is quite crowded with boxes because we don't have much storage space in the back. Sometimes I can't even find where I put the packets of tea until I look twice. It gets dusty because of the road, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars. Our regulars come in for a chat as much as they do for groceries. We don't do anything special, just open up early and close late. It can be tiring standing all day on the concrete floor but that is just how it is. Sometimes the kids from the nearby houses come in for sweets after school. We keep the change in an old tin box. It’s not like those big supermarkets you see in the city center now. We just have what you need for the day. My brother usually handles the morning shift while I go to the big market to get the bags of sugar and flour. It's a plain, honest way to make a living.
