Murari Jenral Store

This store is on Ram Bag Road in Kydganj. It's an old part of Allahabad and the streets can get pretty tight with all the rickshaws and bikes moving through. We keep the shop open most days and it's just a small space packed with all sorts of things from floor to ceiling. You have to know exactly where everything is kept or you will be searching for a long time. We have stuff like spices, flour, and the usual cleaning supplies that people ask for. The spelling on the board says Murari Jenral Store and that's how people have known it for a long time. Ram Bag Road is always active, especially in the mornings when everyone is out buying vegetables. We don't have a lot of extra help, so it is mostly us handling the customers and counting the change. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use a torch to find things in the back. It is just a part of living and working here. We see the same faces every day, which is nice because you get to know what they usually want before they even ask for it. It’s not a big supermarket with bright lights, just a local corner shop where you can grab what you forgot to buy earlier. The floor is concrete and we have a wooden counter that has been there since we started. It serves its purpose and we just keep on going.
