Mohan General

I've been running Mohan General in Ganga Nagar for a good while now. We are located in Gali No-10 over in the Rajapur area of Allahabad. It’s a simple setup, just a room filled with sacks of flour, jars of sweets, and all the household items you might need in a hurry. The street can get a bit muddy when it rains, but people still make their way over. Most of our customers are the same families that have lived here for decades. I know most of them by name and what they usually buy on a Tuesday. We don't have any big marketing or anything like that, just a board outside. The shop is small and it gets a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. I usually sit on a wooden bench near the entrance. Allahabad summers are no joke so the afternoons are usually quiet when everyone is napping. That’s when I catch up on the books or clean the glass jars. It's a quiet life in Rajapur. I like being my own boss even if it means working long hours without many breaks. Sometimes the supply truck can't make it down the narrow lane so we have to carry the crates ourselves. It’s hard work but it’s honest. I’ve seen many shops come and go but we stay here in our little corner. It’s not a fancy life but it satisfies me and provides for my kids.
