Khunnu General Merchant

My shop, Khunnu General Merchant, is located in Khunnu Bhawan on Chayal Road. It is a busy part of Allahabad, especially since we are right near the bus stand. You can hear the conductors shouting and the horns honking all day long. It gets very loud, but you get used to it after a while. Being in Allahabad City means there is always a mix of locals and people just passing through on their way somewhere else. I sell a bit of everything because you never know what a traveler might need. The building is an old one, Khunnu Bhawan, and it has high ceilings that stay a bit cooler in the summer. I spend a lot of my time shifting boxes around and making sure I have not run out of the basics. The shelves are mostly made of wood and they have seen better days, but they hold the weight. People often stop in to ask for directions to the bus stand or to check the time. I do not mind it. It is part of being in this location. The floor is concrete and I have to mop it a few times a day because of all the mud people track in from the road. It is hard work and the days are long, but this is what my family has done for a long time now.
