Hayaat Hospital

Hayaat Hospital is situated at No. 7-B near the Arail Moorh in Naini. It’s right at that spot where people are always turning off the main road, so there’s a lot of dust and movement outside our doors. The building is a bit boxy, painted a shade of off-white that has faded over the years. We spend most of our mornings getting the registers ready and making sure there’s enough water in the dispenser for the day. Naini can get pretty hot, so those ceiling fans are basically going non-stop from March until October. They have a bit of a wobble to them, but they move the air well enough. The waiting area is usually full of people talking in low voices or checking their phones. We don’t have much in the way of decorations, maybe a few posters about health that have been on the walls for a decade. The staff knows the local tea vendor pretty well since he brings over a tray every couple of hours. We take our breaks in the back room where it’s a bit quieter. It’s a busy hospital but it feels more like a part of the neighborhood than a big institution. People just walk in from the Moorh and tell us what’s wrong. There’s no big fancy entrance, just the door and a small sign. We’ve been at this location for quite a while now and it’s become home.
