General Strore

This is the General Strore, located at 13/54 Chokhandi Road in the Gaughat area of Allahabad City. We are pretty easy to find if you are near the Daat Ka Pull bridge. The shop name on the front might look a bit different to some, but everyone around here knows us anyway. It is a busy road, Chokhandi Road, so there is always a lot of dust and movement. We keep the shop open quite late because workers coming across the bridge often need to grab something on their way home. We sell everything from light bulbs to lentils. The interior is a bit cramped because we try to carry a bit of everything, so you have to mind your step around the crates. There is an old ceiling fan that wobbles a little, but it keeps the air moving. My family has been involved with this for some time. We don't have a computerized system or anything, just a pen and a notebook to write things down. Sometimes we sit outside on a plastic chair when it's not too hot. The neighbors are good people, and we see the same faces every day. It’s not a big business, just a small shop by the road where we try to keep enough stock for the local families. We just do our work and go home when the shutters go down at night. It is a simple life by the bridge.
