Ganga Prasad General Merchendiser

We are located at 118 Basmandi, which is a busy part of Allahabad City. Being near the Hanuman Mandir means there is always something going on nearby. Our shop has a bit of an old-fashioned name, but we are just a regular general store at heart. We sell a bit of everything—merchandise for the home, kitchen supplies, and basic groceries. The building is quite old, with thick walls that stay relatively cool during the harsh Allahabad summers. We have rows of glass jars filled with different candies and spices on the counter. Most of our stock comes in large quantities and we break it down for our customers. The area of Basmandi is always crowded with rickshaws and people carrying heavy bags. It can be quite loud with all the shouting and horns. We’ve been here long enough that the noise doesn't bother us anymore. We don't have a computer or a digital scanner. We use a manual scale with metal weights to measure things out. It’s a bit slow, but it’s accurate. People trust us because they’ve been coming here for generations. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just open up, sweep the floor, and wait for the first customer of the morning. It’s a simple way to live and work, surrounded by the sounds of the temple and the market.
