B L Bhagat Hss is tucked away in Kataka, which is part of the Lakshipur area in the Jhunsi district of Allahabad. If you are coming from the main city, you have to cross over and head towards the 211019 area. It’s a bit of a journey but it is worth it for the quiet. Our school isn't one of those glass-fronted buildings you see in the city center. It’s a solid, older structure that has seen many groups of students pass through its doors. We have a few trees around the yard and the classrooms have high ceilings to help with the summer heat. The morning usually starts with the sounds of bicycles arriving as students come in from the nearby villages. We have a staff room where we sit and drink tea before the first bell rings. It is a very normal, everyday kind of place. We don't have flashy advertisements or a big corporate office. It is just the principal, the teachers, and the staff keeping things running. Some days the fans are a bit loud and the chalk gets everywhere, but that is just how a school in Jhunsi feels. We focus on the basics and making sure the students have a desk and a place to learn. It’s been part of this community for a long time, and we like the steady pace of life here in Kataka.
