Our place is located at H I G No - 8/234 in the Awas Vikas Colony over in Jhunsi. Being part of Yojna-3 in Allahabad means we are right in the middle of a lot of new growth and building work. We’ve been doing design work here for a while and the office is usually a bit of a mess with blueprints and sketches everywhere. That’s just the way Archicons Design works; we are more interested in the drawings than in keeping a tidy desk for visitors. Allahabad has a specific way of doing things and we try to stick to that local feel. We aren't some big city firm with shiny glass walls and fancy coffee machines. We are just over here in the colony, working on houses and other buildings for our neighbors. Sometimes the electricity goes out or the internet acts up, but we just keep at it. Most of our days are spent talking to contractors or trying to find the right materials in the local markets. It’s a lot of practical work and less of the artistic stuff people imagine when they hear the word design. We focus on making sure the designs actually work for the climate here in Uttar Pradesh. It gets really hot, so you have to plan for that. We just enjoy the process of seeing something go from a flat piece of paper to a real structure in Jhunsi. It keeps us connected.
