Anil General Stores

We’ve been here on J T Road in Dhoomanganj for a good while now. It’s just a regular shop where people from around Allahabad come to pick up what they need for the day. You know how it is, sometimes you just need a packet of biscuits or some washing powder and don't want to go to a big mall. My family helps out behind the counter most days. We keep the shelves stocked with the usual things like lentils, soap, and snacks. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late, so we might run out of something for a day, but usually, it's all there. It gets quite busy in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work. People stop their bikes right outside and shout out their list. We try to keep up with the orders. It’s not a fancy place, just a concrete room with plenty of boxes piled up in the corners. The fan makes a bit of noise in the summer but it keeps us going. We know most of the faces that walk through the door. It’s nice catching up on the local news while weighing out some sugar. If you are passing through this part of Allahabad, you’ll see our sign. It's nothing special, just a place for the neighborhood to get their groceries without any fuss. We just keep things moving and try to make sure nobody leaves without what they came for.
