Venugopal Krishna Kirana Shop

This is our family kirana shop located at 3-27-43 on Kanigiri Road in Kandukur. We have been here for many years and have seen the road change quite a bit as more buildings went up. Our shop is just a simple room packed from floor to ceiling with all the things people need for their kitchens. We have big sacks of rice and dal sitting on the floor and jars of sweets and snacks on the wooden counters. The counter is quite old and has a few scratches on it from all the bags we have slid across over the years. We open the doors very early in the morning when the milk arrives and we stay open until quite late in the evening. People in Kandukur are busy so they often stop by on their way home from work to pick up oil or sugar. We don't have any fancy lights or computerized billing systems here. We just write everything down and use a simple scale to weigh the goods. It gets a bit dusty because of the vehicles passing by on the road outside but we sweep the floor a couple of times a day to keep it clean. We know our customers well and we often talk about their families while we pack their groceries. It is a small business but it is what we know and we are happy to be a part of the community here.
