Running a place like Rush Cafe right on the NH 5 at the Medarametla junction means we see a lot of different faces every day. The highway is always humming with cars and long-distance trucks heading to places far away. We are right there at the junction which is a natural spot for people to pull over when they are tired of driving. The building is simple and we try to keep the place tidy for whoever walks through the door. It is mostly about quick stops and people wanting a break from the road. We get the early morning travelers who are still half-asleep and the late-night drivers who just need to stay awake for a few more hours. The kitchen is always busy and there is usually a pot of something hot ready to go. We do not have fancy menus or anything like that just the stuff that people want when they are traveling. The wind blows pretty hard across the open road sometimes and brings in a bit of dust but we just sweep it out and keep going. It is a bit of a lonely spot at night when the traffic thins out but during the day it is non-stop action. We are just a bunch of people working to keep the travelers fed and watered before they head back out onto the asphalt. It is a steady life and the road never stops.
