Kpa Soda Enterprises

Down on Gangavaram Road in Inkollu, we have got our little enterprise going. Kpa Soda Enterprises is mostly about the bottles. We spend a lot of time cleaning them and making sure they are ready to be filled again. The machinery we use is old but it gets the job done as long as we keep it oiled and greased. Inkollu can get very dusty in the dry months, so we are always washing the front area so it doesn't look bad. We have a small crew of four people. It is noisy work, the clinking of glass is something you hear in your sleep after a long day at the shop. We load up the crates onto the back of the small delivery cycles to go out to the local shops nearby. Sometimes a bottle breaks and we have to spend time sweeping up the glass bits. My father started this business and I just kept it going because it is what I know. We do not have an office really, just a corner with a wooden stool and a drawer for the cash and receipts. The sun hits the front of the building in the afternoon and it gets pretty warm inside the warehouse. We usually take a long break around two o'clock when it is too hot to do much work. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops and some houses. We know the families on this road well. It is just a steady grind.
