Apsara Watch Shop

If you find yourself near the Clock Tower in the Main Bazar, you will see the Reading Room Complex. Our shop, Apsara Watch Shop, is right there at Shop Number 1. It is a small space, but we have been here for a long time. You can hear the big clock outside chime every hour, which is funny since we spend all day surrounded by smaller clocks and watches. Most of our day is spent hunched over a workbench with a magnifying glass. People bring in watches that stopped working years ago, hoping we can find a part for them. The shelves are filled with boxes of spare parts, many of them quite old. It is a bit cramped when more than two people are inside at once. We get a lot of noise from the bazar, with vendors shouting and bikes zooming past the door. The floor is old tile and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it feels like home to us. We keep a ledger to write down all the repairs. It is a very hands-on job and our fingers are usually a bit stained from the oil and grease. We don’t have any fancy signs, just the one over the door that’s been there since we opened. We just focus on the work in front of us and making sure the watches we hand back are actually ticking again.
