Asian Traders

Asian Traders is located right on Arcot Road in Porur, specifically at No. 31. If you know the area, you know how the traffic can get around here, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home. Our shop is just a regular spot where we keep our stock and manage our orders. It’s often a bit cluttered with boxes and paperwork piled up on the counters, but we generally know where everything is. We spend a lot of the day talking to people who walk in or calling up suppliers to see when the next truck is arriving. It’s a lot of manual work, moving things around and making sure the inventory is right. The dust from the main road comes in if we leave the front open too long, so we’re always wiping things down with old rags. We aren’t a big fancy operation, just a small team trying to stay on top of the daily grind. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we just sit outside on the steps and wait for it to come back while watching the cars go by. It’s just how things go in Porur. We’ve been here long enough that the nearby shopkeepers are all friends. We share news and complain about the heat or the road conditions together. It’s a simple way of doing business, nothing too formal, just keeping the trade going day by day until it's time to close up.
