Our office is located at Vikas Bhawan, which is a well-known building in the South Andaman district. We use Post Box No.180 for our mail. Andaman And Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited is quite a long name, but most people around here just know where we are located. Working in South Andaman is different from the mainland; things move at their own pace. We are involved in a lot of different things related to the development of the islands. Our desks are usually piled high with reports and different project files. Since we are in Vikas Bhawan, we see a lot of people coming in for various government-related matters. The building can get quite warm in the afternoons, but we have fans going to keep the air moving. We aren't a small private shop; we have quite a few departments all working under one roof. It’s a lot of coordination and trying to make sure things are moving forward for the islands. Some days it feels like we spend all our time in meetings or writing out letters. We have a mix of staff, some who have been here for decades and some newer faces. We don't really have a sales pitch or anything like that. We just go about our business of managing the tasks assigned to the corporation. It’s a steady kind of work, focused on the needs of this specific region.
