About Vishwakarma Mechanical Works – Building & Construction Material in Porbandar
If you go to Plot No. 282 in the Gidc Estate at Vanana, you’ll find Vishwakarma Mechanical Works. As the name suggests, we do a lot of mechanical stuff, which usually means our hands are rarely clean. It’s a noisy place with the sound of grinding, hammering, and the occasional radio playing in the background. We don't have an air-conditioned office or any plush chairs. We have metal stools and a big heavy workbench that has seen better days. The floor is stained with oil and there are scrap pieces of metal in the bins. That’s just the nature of mechanical work. We don't try to hide it. People come to us because they know we are right there in the Gidc Estate and we’ve been there for a long time. We don't have a big team of managers. Usually, it’s just a few of us who know how to handle the machines and the tools. We take our time to make sure things are done right, but we don't make a big deal out of it. It’s just what we do. Vanana is a decent place to work, even if it gets a bit quiet in the evenings once all the other shops close up. We usually stay until the last job is finished. We don't have any mission statements or fancy brochures. We just have our tools and Plot No. 282. It’s a straightforward life, and we don't ask for much more than that. It keeps us fed and busy.
