Shri Vivekanand Madhyamik Shala

Over in Bank Colony in the Chhaya area of Porbandar, things stay pretty consistent at Shri Vivekanand Madhyamik Shala. We open up early to get the classrooms aired out before everyone arrives. Since we are in Porbandar, there's often a bit of a breeze coming through, which helps when the sun is out. The school is situated in a residential part of town, so it stays relatively quiet compared to the main markets. We have the usual setup of wooden benches and blackboards. The floors are stone and they stay cool under your feet. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we all know each other's habits by now. We don’t really do anything flashy. There’s a morning bell that lets everyone know it’s time to start. During the lunch break, you can smell whatever everyone brought from home in their tiffins. It’s a simple environment. Sometimes we have to move some furniture around to make room for a small event or a meeting in the main hall. The cupboard in the office is full of old files and trophies that have gathered a bit of dust over the seasons. We try to keep things tidy, but with so many students moving around, there’s always something to fix or clean. It’s just the daily life of a school in a quiet colony. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the kids show up on time and do their homework regularly.
