Our office is tucked away on the third floor of the Chawada Apartments, which is located in the Vagheshwari Plot area of Porbandar. If you are familiar with the town, we are very close to the New Fuwara and the Dudheshwar Temple. It’s a decent enough spot to work from, though climbing up to the third floor every day definitely gives your legs a workout. Sometimes the lift works and sometimes it doesn't, so we just take it as it comes. From our windows, we can hear the sounds of the temple and the general hum of the traffic near the fountain. It’s quite a lively neighborhood. We handle the local side of things for Sanghi Cement Limited here. It’s mostly about coordinating where the cement needs to go and making sure the paperwork is all in order. Our office isn't anything like those polished places you see in movies. We’ve got some mismatched chairs, a big water cooler that we rely on heavily during the summer months, and stacks of files that have been there since we moved in. We spend a lot of time talking to the transporters and the local guys who come in to settle their accounts. It’s a very hands-on job. We don't have a lot of formal rules. We just show up, do the daily tasks, and maybe have an extra cup of tea if the afternoon is slow. It’s a steady, honest way to make a living in Porbandar, and we like the people we deal with.
