Thamarai Selvi Hi Tech Rice Mill

You can find us at Plot No. 211/A, Pallipat Road, in the Karimbedu area of Pallipat. We call it a hi-tech mill, but it still involves a lot of manual labor and getting your hands dirty. We have some newer machinery that helps speed things up, but at the end of the day, the bags still have to be carried and the grain still needs to be checked by hand. The building is quite large and it gets very dusty, especially when the wind blows through the open doors. We spend a lot of time cleaning the filters and making sure the belts are tight. It is a routine that we have followed for years. Sometimes the local farmers sit with us in the shade during their lunch break and we talk about the crops. We don't have any air conditioning, so we just rely on the breeze coming through the yard. The floor is stained from years of oil and grain being moved around. It is not a place you would visit if you wanted to stay clean. We keep a ledger for all the loads that come in and go out, and sometimes the math takes us a bit longer than it should. It is just a regular mill trying to keep up with the daily demands of the local area.
