We are based in the SIPCOT Industrial Complex at Gummidipoondi, specifically at plot B-69. It is a large area with a lot of different factories, so it can feel a bit industrial and gray sometimes when you first arrive. We spend our time working on health foods, mostly oils and things like that. The heat inside the plant can get pretty intense during the summer months, but we have our routines to keep things moving. A lot of us commute from the city or nearby towns, arriving early before the sun gets too high in the sky. There is always the sound of heavy machinery and the smell of processing in the air. We have large tanks and packing lines that run throughout the day. It is a very structured environment because of where we are located in the complex. We don't have much of a front office for visitors, as most of our work is about production and shipping out large quantities of product. The roads around SIPCOT are always busy with trucks coming and going at all hours. We eat our lunch in a small break room and talk about the weekend or the local news from home. It’s hard work, but we have a good group of people here who have been doing this for years. We just focus on keeping the machines running and the quality steady without making a big fuss about it.
