We are based in Palapetty, which is a quiet spot where you can usually hear the sea if the wind is right. Our setup is very simple. We operate out of a small building that serves as both our office and a place to keep some of our trade items. We do not have a huge team, just a few of us who handle the day-to-day things. Most of our work involves talking to people and arranging where things need to go. We spend a lot of time on the veranda when it is too hot inside. There is always a pot of tea going somewhere nearby. We handle a bit of this and a bit of that, mostly just trading goods that come through the area. We do not have any big corporate goals or things like that. We just want to make sure the people we deal with are happy and that we can pay our bills at the end of the month. The roads around here are narrow and lined with coconut trees, so everything moves a bit slower than in the big cities. We like it that way. If someone needs something, they usually just drop by and we talk about it over a drink. It is a very direct way of doing business. We keep our records in a couple of old books and try to stay on top of the phone calls when the signal is good enough.
