Being in a coastal place like this, seafood is just a way of life for us. We spend our time handling different kinds of fish and other things from the ocean. It’s a cold job because we have to keep everything on ice or in the freezers. We get the catch in early in the morning, sometimes before the sun is even up. Then it’s a lot of cleaning, sorting, and packing. It’s messy work and your hands are always wet, but it’s what we know. We know the boat captains pretty well by now. If they have a good day out on the water, we have a busy day here at the shop in Jawahar Nagar. We aren't a massive corporation with offices in every city. We are just here in Reddiarpalayam doing our best to get the seafood ready for wherever it’s going next. The neighbors probably know us by the smell of the sea that follows us around. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just want to make sure the fish is fresh and the work is done right. It’s a simple business built on hard work and being at the docks at the right time.
