Our place, Pondicherry Polymers Pvt. Ltd., is situated right on the Pondy Villupuram Road in Thruvandar Koil. It’s a busy spot because of all the traffic moving between the two towns. We have a fairly large shed where we manufacture different kinds of polymer products. It gets incredibly hot inside during the summer, even with the big exhaust fans running. The machines have a constant rhythm that you can hear from the road. We employ a lot of people from the nearby villages. It’s a very practical operation. We don’t have a polished reception area or fancy chairs for visitors. If you come by, you’ll likely find me in the middle of the production line with grease on my hands. We deal with raw plastic beads and turn them into rolls of material. There’s always a bit of a smell from the heating process, but you get used to it. The yard outside is where we keep the scrap and the finished items waiting for the trucks. When the monsoon hits, the yard gets quite muddy, which makes loading the trucks a real chore. We don't have a big management team. It’s just a few of us making sure the machines are maintained and the output is steady. We’ve been at this location for a long time and have seen the road get much busier over the years. We just keep doing our work and handling the daily production issues.
