Down in Thattanchavady at C-22 & 23, Manatec Electronics Pvt Ltd. is where we’ve been putting together garage equipment for years. Puducherry is a nice place to work, though the humidity can get to you when you’re out in the industrial estate. We mostly focus on things like wheel aligners and balancers. You’ve probably seen our equipment if you’ve ever taken your car to get the tires checked. It’s a lot of electronics mixed with heavy metal frames. We have a big team of people who spend their whole day testing sensors and calibrating cameras to make sure the measurements are spot on. It’s funny how much technology goes into just making sure a car drives straight. We started out small but the building has grown over time as we added more space for R&D and manufacturing. Our lunchroom is usually full of talk about the latest car models and how their suspension systems are getting more complicated. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the parts and half-finished machines sitting around. We try to keep things organized but when a big shipment is going out, it gets pretty hectic. We aren’t really into big corporate speeches. We just like making tools that work properly for the mechanics who use them every day. It’s a steady job and we take it one day at a time here in the estate.
