You will find our office at Number 23, Rue Candappa Mudaliyar, which is right in the Puducherry H O area. It’s one of those streets that feels very much like the old part of town. Gateway India Travel Agency is where we spend our days helping people with their travel arrangements. It might be a train ticket, a car rental, or just some advice on which bus to take. The office isn’t very large, but it’s got enough room for a couple of desks and some chairs for people to sit while we look things up. We deal with a lot of different people, from locals to those visiting from far away. Sometimes the internet is slow and we have to tell people to wait a bit, but that’s just life here. We don’t have any polished brochures or a fancy mission statement. We just try to get the bookings done correctly so nobody gets stuck. The street outside is usually busy with people going about their business, and we are just a part of that daily rhythm. Most of our work comes from being in this spot for so long. We know the other shop owners nearby and often chat with them during the quiet hours. It’s a practical, local business that focuses on the basic needs of travelers coming through our part of Pondicherry. We don't try to be anything we are not, just a helpful place on a nice old street.
