Our place is located over at No.1 in D.S. Raynol Garden, right along the 27, 28, 29 Main Road in Venkateswara Nagar. It’s a bit of a tricky spot to find if you aren't familiar with the Saram area because of the way the main road twists around. We handle a lot of leather here every day. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the heavy smell of the hides and the oils we use. It’s a strong scent that sticks to your clothes, but after working here for years, we don’t even notice it anymore. There’s always a lot of activity with people moving bundles of leather from one section to another. We have a few old tables that have seen better days where we check the quality of the skins. Some days it gets really busy when a big shipment arrives, and we have to clear out space in the back. The main road outside is always crowded with traffic, so getting things delivered can be a headache sometimes. We aren’t a huge operation with hundreds of people, just a regular group of folks trying to get the work done. We spend a lot of time looking for imperfections in the material. It’s tiring on the eyes after a few hours under the lights. We take our breaks together and talk about the news or what’s happening in the neighborhood. It’s just a normal workplace where everyone knows their job. We try to keep things moving as best as we can.
