96 Nehru Street is where we keep things running every day. It is a simple spot, and Fairever has been here for a good while. The front door sticks during the monsoon season, so you really have to pull it hard to get inside. Inside, it is mostly just wooden shelves and a couple of old tables. We do not have a lot of fancy decorations on the walls. Nehru Street is pretty busy, so there is always some noise coming in from the open window. We mostly deal with local folks who already know where we are. It is much easier that way. My brother helps out on the weekends when I need an extra hand. We don't have a big staff, just two or three of us usually. I spend a lot of time checking the inventory and making sure the counts are right. It is not exactly a glamorous job, but it is what we do. The street lights outside do not always work at night, so we try to close up before it gets too dark. People often ask why we do not move to a bigger, newer place, but this one is paid for and we know all the neighbors. The chai shop next door is great, and we have known the owner for twenty years. Sometimes we just sit and talk when business is slow. It’s not like those big corporate places. We just do our work and go home. Every day is mostly the same.
