Ezhil Cabs

Our little office is located at No 6, Mariamman Koil Street. This is in the Salavaiyalar Nagar area of Lawspet here in Pondicherry. It is a quiet enough street most of the time, except when there is a festival at the temple nearby. We started Ezhil Cabs because we knew the roads and had a couple of cars ready to go. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or checking the schedule. It is mostly about making sure a driver is actually awake and ready for those early morning airport runs. Those 3 AM pickups are the hardest part of the job for everyone. We have lived in Lawspet for years, so we know all the shortcuts to avoid the main road traffic when things get jammed up. The office isn't much to look at, just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of keys hanging on the wall. Sometimes the drivers sit around and drink tea while waiting for the next booking. We don’t do anything too complicated here. We just try to get people from one place to another without too much fuss. Rain or heat, the cars have to keep moving. It’s a lot of coordination and hoping the traffic isn't too bad near the town center. If you walk down Mariamman Koil Street, you’ll see our sign. We are usually around from morning until late at night for whenever someone needs a ride.
