E M R Travels is tucked away at No 29, Annai Theresa Street in Kosapalayam. If you know the area, we are in Raja Nagar, which is quite close to the New Bus Stand in Pondicherry. Being near the bus stand is a bit of a mixed bag; it’s convenient for business but it means the traffic is almost always a mess nearby. Our office is a simple place where we manage all the travel arrangements. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just waiting for people to drop by. The street, Annai Theresa Street, is usually busy with people heading toward the main road. We do a lot of local trips and some longer ones too. It’s mostly about making sure the cars are clean and the drivers show up when they are supposed to. Sometimes things go wrong, a tire gets flat or a driver is late because of the rain, and we have to scramble to fix it. That's just how the travel business goes. We don't use any fancy systems, just our notebooks and our phones. The neighborhood of Kosapalayam feels like home to us, and we’ve gotten used to the noise of the buses nearby. It is a small team here, just a few people keeping the wheels turning. We just focus on the work at hand and try to get through the day's list of trips. It’s not always easy, but it is the work we chose and we keep at it day after day.
