Archel Studio - Architects & Designers

Our studio is on the first floor of No 10 on Captain Marius Xavier Street. It’s a pretty central spot in Pondicherry, right near Hotel Sun Park. If you’re walking by, you have to look up to see the sign for Archel Studio - Architects & Designers. The stairs are a bit steep, so we get our exercise every day. Inside the office, things are usually a bit cluttered with samples and blueprints. We try to keep it professional, but when you’re in the middle of a project, the mess just happens. We’ve got a few desks pushed together and a lot of coffee mugs sitting around. The street outside is always active, especially with people going to the hotel or the shops nearby. You can hear the scooters and the occasional car horn all afternoon. It’s a good place to work because everything is close by. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to answer the phones with a scripted greeting. If the phone rings, one of us just picks it up and talks. We’re mostly just focused on the architecture and the design work we’ve got on our plates. It’s a small, honest business. We don't use big words to describe ourselves. We just show up at the office, do the drawings, and try to make things look the way they should. It’s a lot of sitting and thinking, followed by a lot of drawing on most days.
