Keerthi Stores

Pollachi is a nice place to have a shop. Keerthi Stores is located at 4, Chatram Road. It is a small building but we fit a lot of things inside. Every morning I open the heavy metal door and start bringing some of the buckets and plastic ware out onto the sidewalk. This lets people walking by see what we have. Chatram Road has a lot of people moving around, especially on market days. Inside, the walls are lined with wooden shelves that my father put up years ago. They are a bit crooked now but they still hold everything just fine. We sell a bit of everything that a house might need. There is no computer here, just a simple calculator and a bill book. I keep the change in a wooden drawer that squeaks every time I pull it out. The air smells like incense because I light a few sticks every morning. Sometimes the rain in Pollachi gets very heavy and water starts to leak near the back door. I have to put a bucket there and keep an eye on it. Most of the people who come here live nearby and they know my name. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. We just stay open from eight in the morning until late in the evening. It is a simple way to spend the day in Pollachi.
