Kausalya Medical Center

We are set up near the Shanthi Theatre, which is how most people find us if they aren't from the immediate neighborhood. It’s a well-known spot, so it makes giving directions pretty easy. The medical center is housed in a building that’s been around for quite a while. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze of corridors and small rooms. We have a reception area that gets quite a lot of light in the afternoon. There are always people sitting there, waiting for their names to be called. We have a small staff of nurses and helpers who keep the place running. They spend most of their time cleaning up, filing papers, or helping patients get to the right room. The floor is that old-fashioned stone that stays cool even when it’s boiling outside. Sometimes the sounds from the theatre area drift in, especially when a new movie is playing and there are crowds outside. We just go about our business, checking pulses and writing out notes. It's a very practical environment for work. There isn't much decoration on the walls, just some old calendars and a few notices for the patients. We’ve been here serving the community for years, and it feels like a second home to most of us who work here. We open the doors early and stay until the last person is seen for the day.
