Our place is at 4/84C6 in Gem Villas Sri Balaji Nagar, over in Ganeshapuram within the Annur Taluk. If you come near our gate, you will definitely smell us before you see us. The scent of dried ginger and fresh garlic is always hanging in the air. We spend our days sorting through piles of spices to make sure only the good stuff gets packed for export. It’s a dusty job and it makes us sneeze quite a bit, but you get used to it after a week or two. We work with a lot of local farmers who bring their crops to us. We have to be very careful with the cleaning and the drying because if things get damp, they go bad quickly. Our workspace is filled with bags and scales and the sound of people chatting while they sort through the bulbs. We don't have a big fancy office. We mostly sit on stools or stand by the sorting tables. It's practical, hard work that requires a lot of patience. We aren't trying to be the biggest spice lords in India. We just want to make sure the garlic and ginger we send out is something we can be proud of. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by the light from the door, but we keep going. It’s just how we do things here in Annur.
