Uppal Orchid

My name is Devendra Rana and I run Uppal Orchid here in our village, Dor. Pithoragarh is where I grew up and I wanted to have something of my own right here at home. It is not a very big place, just a quiet spot where people can come and stay when they are passing through the hills of Uttarakhand. We are situated right in the village area, so it feels very local and simple. There isn’t much fancy stuff here, but we keep the rooms tidy and try to help anyone who comes looking for a place to rest. My family helps me out with the daily chores. Sometimes it gets quite busy during the season, and other times it is just us and the mountains. I’ve been living in this post area for a long time now. People know us by name. It is a bit of a climb to get up here, but the air is good. We usually have tea ready for guests. It’s a humble setup really. No big reception desks or anything like that. Just a small gate and a few rooms. If you’re coming towards Distt. Pithoragarh, you’ll find us easily enough by asking around. We mostly just focus on making sure people have a bed for the night. It’s hard work running a place in the village but it keeps us busy and connected to the people around here.
