Pungeshwar Mahadev Farmer Producer Company Limited is our group's name, and we are based out of Sunyura Gartir in Pithoragarh. We are located at Ashok Kumar’s place. Pithoragarh is quite a way out, right near the borders, so it is a very specific kind of life here. The name comes from our local roots and the faith we have in this place. We are mostly farmers who have come together to try and sell our produce as a group instead of all on our own. Ashok Kumar takes care of a lot of the coordination. The terrain here is steep and the weather is unpredictable, so farming is never a sure thing. We work with what the land gives us. Our office is just a simple room where we keep our records and meet up to talk. There isn't any fancy furniture or big signs. We are just local people trying to make the most of what we have. It takes a lot of effort to get things from Sunyura Gartir to the bigger markets, so being a company helps us share the load. We don’t spend much on advertising because everyone around here already knows who we are. It’s all about the community and making sure we can keep our farms going for the next year. It’s a hard life but it is our life.
