The stairs are a bit steep, but once you get up here, it’s a quiet place to get some work done. We spend most of our days looking over drawings and talking to contractors on the phone. The office is full of rolled-up blueprints and samples of tiles or bits of metal. It’s not a very fancy setup, just a few desks and some old chairs for when people come in to talk about a project. Construction is a messy business, so there is usually some mud on the floor from someone coming back from a site visit. We’ve been working in this area for a while, and you can see some of the buildings we helped with if you drive around the colony. I don't like to spend too much time behind a desk, so I’m usually out on a site at least once a day to make sure things are moving along. Dealing with labor and materials can be a real headache, especially when the weather doesn't cooperate or a truck is late. But seeing a wall go up where there was nothing before is a good feeling.
