Universal Design

You can find us at Diamond Textiles in Rampura. This place is usually a total hive of activity because there is so much fabric moving around at all hours. At Universal Design, we work in a space that is filled with heavy rolls of cloth and sketches pinned to the walls. It is often a bit chaotic with loose threads all over the floor, but that is just part of the daily job. We spend a lot of time bent over big tables looking at patterns. The air always smells a bit like new cotton and laundry starch. We are not a big design house with a glass front or a receptionist. We are more of a hands-on workshop where things actually get made by hand. Our windows are quite small, so we rely on those bright fluorescent lights to see what we are doing. Sometimes we stay late when a big order needs finishing, and we just order some spicy food from the stall across the street. Most of the staff has been here for a long time, so we all know how to work around each other without getting in the way. If you walk in, you will probably just see someone busy with a pair of shears or a measuring tape. It is a noisy, dusty, and very busy place, but it is home to us during the day. We do not worry about looking professional. We just worry about getting things right.
