Bhanu Kirana Stores

Bhanu Kirana Stores is over at Ghaziabad Shatabdipuram 97/A. I’ve been in this spot for several years now. When I first started, there weren’t as many houses around here. Now, Shatabdipuram is quite crowded. My shop is usually the first one to open on this stretch. I like the quiet of the early morning before the noise starts. I spend a lot of time weighing out things from big sacks—sugar, dal, and rice. The scale is a bit old but it’s accurate enough. I keep a diary of what people owe me, the old-fashioned way. Some people pay at the end of the month, and I trust them. That’s how it works in a place like this. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, so it gets quite hot behind the counter. I have a small table fan that helps a bit. My wife comes by in the evening to help me close up. We have to make sure everything is locked tight because of the stray dogs around 97/A. It’s a lot of repetitive work, stocking and selling, then stocking again. But it’s my own business. I don't have a boss telling me what to do, just the customers asking for their daily needs. Sometimes I'm tired, but seeing a neighbor and having a quick chat makes the day go faster. I suppose I’ll be here for many more years yet.
