Khan General Store

Khan General Store is another one of those spots on Moriya Road in Phalodi where you can get your daily bits and pieces. We have been working out of this location for a good bit now. Jodhpur is a place where people appreciate a shop that is open when they need it, and we try to do that. Our shelves are mostly filled with things people use every day in their kitchens or for cleaning their houses. It is a simple place, nothing flashy at all. The floor is concrete and the walls have some old paint, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time counting change and stacking packets of biscuits or tea. Moriya Road is always moving, so there is never a dull moment. We see a lot of different people throughout the day, from workers stopping for a quick snack to housewives doing their weekly shopping. We do not really use a computer for anything here; it is all done by hand and memory. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit in the shade of the doorway for a bit to stay cool. It is a quiet life in some ways but busy in others. We just want to make sure the people in our part of Phalodi have a place to get what they need without going too far. We keep it simple and just focus on the daily tasks of running a store.
