Jasamtiya General Store

Our shop, Jasamtiya General Store, is located in the Naya Bazar area of Phalodi. We are quite close to the Bhaiya River and not too far from the Dwarikadhish Temple. It is a nice part of town because of the temple nearby, so we get a lot of people walking past on their way to pray. Being in the 342301 zip code area of Jodhpur, we serve a mix of locals and visitors. The shop is full of all kinds of things like household items, dry goods, and stuff for kids. We have been here long enough that we know the sounds of the neighborhood by heart. The river is close, though it is not always full of water depending on the season. Inside the store, things can get a bit cramped because we try to fit as much stock as possible on the shelves. We do not have any fancy displays. It is just things piled up in a way that we know where everything is. Sometimes a customer has to wait a minute while we find exactly what they asked for in the back. Running a general store in Naya Bazar means you talk to a lot of people every day. We enjoy the conversations and the steady rhythm of the business. It is just a regular life here, keeping the shop open and helping out whoever comes through the door in Phalodi.
