Malabar Hardwares

We are sitting at number 57 in Perinthalmanna. Specifically, the shop is in Vaararparam. It's a busy little area, and we’ve been part of the landscape here for quite some time. Malabar Hardwares is basically a stack of shelves and a lot of heavy items. We have bins full of bolts, tools, and all the bits and pieces people need for their houses or projects. It gets a bit crowded inside, especially on market days when everyone is out and about. We don't have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly, so we mostly rely on knowing where things are tucked away. If you ask for a specific wrench or a bucket of nails, we usually know exactly which corner it’s in. The floor is concrete and showing its age, but it holds up. We open early because that’s when the builders and local guys start their day. Perinthalmanna is a place where people know each other, so we spend a lot of time just talking to customers about what they’re fixing. It's not a showroom. It’s a hardware store where things are a bit dusty and the aisles are narrow. We just try to keep the stock replenished so we don't run out of the basics. Sometimes the deliveries are late, but that's life. We just stay open until the sun goes down and do it all again the next day. It is hard work but it keeps us going.
