Niliwu Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in Block IV of Chumukedima. We use Hotokhu Achumi’s place as our center. It’s a straightforward operation. We are just a group of farmers from the Chumukedima area who wanted to find a better way to manage our work. Instead of everyone doing their own thing and struggling with the buyers, we joined up. We aren't some big city company. We are people who spend most of our time in the dirt and the sun. The office work is something we do because we have to, not because we like it. Most days are spent talking about crop yields and how the weather is affecting the plants. We don't have a mission statement or a fancy philosophy. We just want to make sure we can sell our produce and keep our families going. It’s tough work and sometimes the market isn't kind to us, but we have each other now. We meet up, share some news, and decide what the plan is for the next season. It’s a very local thing. We don't use marketing tricks or shiny advertisements. If you come by, you'll just see us working. It is a simple life and we like it that way. We are just trying to keep the farming tradition alive while making it work in the modern world. We aren't experts, we are just experienced with the soil here and trying to make a living together.
