Sri Meenakshi Rice Mill

You can find us at number 45 on the Trichy - Tanjore Main Road. Being right on the highway means we get a lot of trucks coming and going all day long. We’re in Pudhulutty, near the Sengipatti area. The mill has been around for quite a while now. We spend our time processing paddy and getting it ready for the local market. It’s hard, physical work that keeps us on our feet. My back usually aches by the time I head home in the evening. The machines are old but they still do a good job if you treat them right and oil them. We have a small crew of guys who have been with us for years and know exactly what to do. We know the farmers around here well. They bring their harvest in, and we do our best to get it processed quickly so they can get paid. The main road is always loud with buses and lorries, but inside the mill, it’s just the steady rhythm of the rollers. We don't have any fancy marketing or salespeople. The quality of the rice usually speaks for itself when people cook it. Sometimes the rain makes it hard to dry the paddy, and we have to scramble to cover everything up before it gets soaked. It’s a constant battle with the weather. We just want to do a solid job and keep the business going.
