Devi Imports & Exports

We operate out of number 20 in the Sriram Complex on Thuraiyur Road. It is a decent-sized complex with many other shops, so there is always a lot of noise and people moving about. Devi Imports & Exports has been here for a few years now. We started small, just one room, and now we use two. We mostly deal with bringing goods in and sending others out, depending on the season. Thuraiyur Road is a good location because it is easy for the transport vans to find us. Our office is usually full of samples and empty boxes. It looks messy to an outsider, but we have our own system for finding things. I share the work with two of my old school friends. We do not always agree on how to do things, but we get it done. We use a lot of ledgers because the electricity goes out sometimes, and you cannot always rely on the computer. It is a bit old-fashioned, I know. We do not have any fancy brochures or a sales team. We just talk to people on the phone or face-to-face when they come into the complex. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish the customs declarations. It is tedious work, but it is necessary. We like the independence of running our own place. No one tells us what to do, even if it means we have to work harder. We are just local people doing business on Thuraiyur Road, and we are fine with that.
